Maria is the Programme Coordinator for the Arts Fundraising and Philanthropy programme at Cause4.

Prior to joining Cause4, Maria previously worked in various Arts Education Institutions in the UK and Ireland. During this time, she has organised training courses, private events and summer schools, as well as developing and marketing courses and programmes in art, culture and education.

Maria has also worked in the arts and events sector, on music festivals, exhibitions and theatre performances. She holds a BA (hons) in Arts and Event Management from Arts University Bournemouth and is currently completing her MA in Contemporary Art Theory at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Small Charity week is a chance for us to celebrate those small local charities making a difference to their communities.

Having spent some of my childhood living in a rural Gloucestershire village, I thought it would be a great opportunity to promote one charity that is helping those who feel isolated, lonely and in much need of support in the region: Cotswold Friends.

Tuesday night’s Celebrity Bake Off for Stand up to Cancer was a tough watch. Not because of the disastrous bakes, but for the charity campaign video in the middle of the episode. This week featured a young boy, who having survived cancer once, unfortunately passed away when it later returned. In between his diagnoses, his mother suffered and survived breast cancer, only to find out it had returned – and was now terminal at the time of recording.
