About this Event

Building on the success of our award-winning Trustee Leadership Programme, in April 2020 Cause4 will deliver a bespoke one-day training programme for Trustees, Board and Committee members across the sports sector – from National Governing Bodies to sports clubs across the UK.

In partnership with the Philanthropy Foundation and the University of Westminster Law School, this vital and vibrant course will see experts in governance and sports leadership come together to share the key responsibilities of good governance across the sports sector. 

The course covers the key responsibilities of Trustees of sports charities/clubs and other regulatory issues, as well as touching on key topics such as financial management, fundraising and strategic planning. It will also offer real-world insights from experts from across the sports sector, and there will be an opportunity to network with other participants.

Thanks to the generous support of our partners we are able to offer this course at a heavily subsidised rate of £20 ( as opposed to a normal cost of £150).

10:30am - 11am: Arrival, Tea and Coffee

• introduction and welcome from the University of Westminster and the Philanthropy Foundation

11am - 1:15pm: Modules 1 and 2

You will cover issues including:

• an overview of the sports charity sector and the importance of Trustees; and
• governance and strategic planning in sports organisations. 

1:15pm - 2:15pm: Lunch and Guest Speaker

The guest speaker will provide useful insights into governance and key issues at sports organisations.

2:15pm-5pm: Modules 3 and 4

You will cover issues including:

• financial management of a sports charity and club; and
• an introduction to fundraising.
